Thanks for getting in touch and for your kind words. We’ve been overwhelmed by the reaction to the song.
The moment I heard “Stones on a Sandy Beach” I knew it could be a hit. It’s so beautifully written, sung and produced. After Charlie’s Dad David got in touch I sent the MP3 to the whole team at Wave 105 and several jocks have played it in their shows too. There have even been requests to add it to our B list! I will back the vote. To be honest with you I have never known a song from a new local artist to have caused such a buzz in my ten years at the station!

Charlie Hole CD release Thursday 22nd Oct 2009
Charlie Hole is a 16 year old singer song-writer from Christchurch, Dorset.
He has been writing and playing his own material since he was thirteen and has now finished a five-song cd entitled, “Questions. Answers. Awkward Silences”. This music is the result of an unusual alliance.
Two years ago, Charlie had a chance meeting with Jim Cregan, a veteran guitarist, writer and producer in his early sixties, whose varied credits include Rod Stewart, Katie Melua, Kid Rock and The Gypsy Kings. Despite their considerable age difference, they seemed to find a lot in common. Cregan was immediately impressed with Charlie’s brilliant lyrics and subtle evocative vocals; Charlie found someone who was ready and able to develop his ideas into something richer and more focused.
Although still at school, Charlie devoted every spare moment to the recording studio and together they created this unique insight into Charlie’s world. When Cregan first played some rough versions to his co-writer and friend, Andy Hill, (3 time Ivor Novello award winner) Andy was shocked into disbelief. “He couldn’t possibly have written this at 15” he said. “I would be proud to have written it at 50”. “Ah, but he did” replied Cregan “And there’s more where that came from”
Please take a little time to listen to this remarkable new talent and help Charlie find his way into the hearts of music lovers worldwide.
